27-year old woman was hit by a truck pulling a loaded fifth wheel trailer when it ran a stop sign at highway speed. She suffered an acute complex fracture of distal left tibia with fracture lines extending into ankle mortise, 3 mm of distraction and medial displacement of dominant fracture fragment involving medial malleolus, traumatic compression fracture of the superior endplates of L5 vertebral body, right and left iliac wing fractures and an abdominal injury that left a significant scar.
